Cast Urethane

When your project requires a low quantity of parts, the Cast Urethane process may be ideal. Capable of producing parts similar in quality, color and materials Cast Urethane parts can be used for testing, marketing as well as fit and function.

When time or money restriction arise a Cast Urethane part can be produced much faster and without the added expense of production injection mold tooling.

Materials Available: ABS-Like, High Temp ABS-Like, PE-Like, Lexan-Like, Glass Filled Nylon, High Strength, Elastomer (25A, 32A, 42A, 50A, 60A, 70A, 80A, 90A), RC-79D MRI Transparent, UL94V0 Polypropylene-like, UL94V0 ABS-like.

Maximum dimensions: 25″x25″x21″

Cast Urethane Standard Tolerances: +/- 0.005″ for the first inch, +/- 0.002” on every inch thereafter Cast Urethane/RTV MoldingCast urethane prototypes are created from RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanization) silicone rubber molds. It provides a quick and cost-effective way to emulate injection molded plastic parts without the high price of permanent tooling.

Cast urethane parts are commonly used for marketing, functional testing and low volume runs when less than 100 parts are needed. The process begins with a master model. Typically a Stereolithography (SLA) rapid prototype is used for the master but a physical part can also be used.

The master is encapsulated in silicone rubber. After the rubber cures, the master is removed creating the RTV mold.

With a full range of materials like ABS, flexible urethanes, high impact, high temp, medical grade, FDA approved, glass filled, optical clear, flame retardant, 12 sec burn compliant, UL94VO, 2 shot over mold, insert over mold, silicone keypads and parts ETC. Or anything in between, (our project management staff is very well versed in all of these materials and procedures and will be happy to assist you in choosing the right one for your project).
